Been to this temple twice and i must say - both experiences have been amazing. As per their website, weekends - especially Saturday afternoon / evening gets really crowded. So in my opinion, the best time would be early morning - you can beat the rush and have a good peaceful time. The route to this temple is really beautiful and scenic - along winding roads and trees and atop a mountain! The temple is located inside Mt.Madonna Centre - so once you see the sign which says 'Mt.Madonna Centre' make sure you go inside. On our first visit, we missed it and went alll the way to some dead-end places in pitch dark during early winter morning:D The aarti begins at 6.30 am - so you can plan your trip so that you can reach by around 6.15sh.
There are 2 main aartis - Ganesh'ji aarti and Hanuman'ji aarti. The best part is during the aarti's the priests and devotees sing bhajans / hymns - and it is a truly soul-soothing experience. Since, mornings are usually very cold - they also have blankets which you can wrap around to keep you warm and cozy during the recitals. All in all - i never expected to find such a place here in the US. If you get a chance - make sure you definitely visit this temple for the experience as well as to get blessings from the deities here:). This is a great weekend getaway if you stay anywhere in Bay Area. The drive past 101 to the temple in Mt Madonna is also great inside the woods.
Sometime the GPS might be problem once you start climbing the hills, so it's better to have have studied the location on google maps. The Temple per se is great, with Lord Hanuman and Lord Ganesha with the little waterfall from the Nandi statue.

It's a very peaceful location where you can spend some time meditating if you'd like. Parking might be an issue during weekends, you can also book your parking spot on their web site. If you're lucky, you can also find some Deers around the temples. Overall a nice peaceful place to getaway on a weekend.
